Secret Blogger Exchange & a Mother's Day Gift Guide

A few weeks ago, I told you about a <a href="http://hisugarplum.blogspot.com/2014/03/the-friday-five.html" target="_blank">secret blogger gift exchange</a> that I was lucky enough to participate in. Stefanie and Jennifer assembled a group of stylish home bloggers, who all happen to be moms, and we were each secretly paired with another participant. Then we shopped for our favorite things, and surprised our blogger friend with the gift. {DIY} Agate Lacquered Box

{DIY} Sweetheart Ring Dish

Hello, my sweet candy hearts, and happy February! I hope your weekend was grand. We did some garage organizing and craft-purging...doesn't that sound like a barrel of laughs? And by we, I mean me.<br /><br />Valentine's Day is one of those holidays where I don't intend to do much, then next thing I know, I've created a bunch of projects. Kind of like Father's Day last year...we ended up with a whole <a href="http://goo.gl/35vc8X" target="_blank">mustache week</a> dedicated to dad! But my wheels start spinning, especially when it involves DIY gifts, and I lose my ability to reign it in. Or tap the brakes, as <a href="http://goo.gl/lT1Yue" target="_blank">Sheaffer</a> likes to say. It's a good idea not to drink the night before because you want a steady hand for this. Gifts for Yo Man

<div style="text-align: center;">There's no question <a href="http://bit.ly/18BJRo2" target="_blank">Nordstrom</a> is one of my favorite stores...between their great sales and free shipping/returns...I find myself drawn to their store more than others. A bonus is Mr. Sugarplum doesn't mind going in with me. Most stores he starts with the heavy-sighing after a few minutes, but with <a href="http://bit.ly/18BJRo2" target="_blank">Nordstrom</a>, he usually sneaks off and I have to hunt him down in the Men's Department when I'm ready! His weakness is shoes, and lightweight pullovers. And sports gear. {DIY} Monogrammed Glass Jar

It's Hump Day again...and yes, I'm still saying it like the camel in <a href="http://hisugarplum.blogspot.com/2013/09/pb-teen-inspired-diy-large-organizer.html" target="_blank">this commercial</a>. Well, attempting to say it like the camel. According to my son, I'm not even close, and to his horror, I just keep saying it. I don't know when I became an embarrassing parent, but it's happened. I'm sure my unnatural love of washi tape, and need to put it on everything in sight, has nothing to do with it.<br /><blockquote class="tr_bq">"Really, Mom...you put that stuff on the keyboard, too!?!?!"</blockquote><br /><div style="text-align: center;"><img alt="Hi Sugarplum | Monogrammed Craft Jar" height="521" src="http://farm6.staticflickr.com/5532/9920262255_59eaf19fcb_z.jpg" width="550" /> </div><br />For my <a href="http://hisugarplum.blogspot.com/2013/06/5-washi-tape-projects-that-time-i-was.html" target="_blank">Washi Tape Projects feature</a> in the <i>Dallas Morning News</i>, they sent me a big box of the colorful tapes. Which was, obviously, amazing. But it also meant I needed a new spot to store them all. I love seeing all the bright colors, so I opted for <a href="http://api.shopstyle.com/action/apiVisitRetailer?url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.containerstore.com%2Fshop%3FproductId%3D10007363%26N%3D%26Ntt%3Dwide%2Bmouth%2Bjar&pid=uid7924-1475882-20&utm_medium=widget&utm_source=Product+Link" target="_blank">this wide-mouth clear jar</a>.  <br /><br /><div style="text-align: center;"><img alt="Hi Sugarplum | Monogrammed Craft Jar" height="505" src="http://farm6.staticflickr.com/5441/9920435663_69a610c25d_z.jpg" width="550" /></div><br />And of course, I monogrammed it...because that's another of my obsessive needs. I created the monogram using the <a href="http://hisugarplum.blogspot.com/2013/05/teacher-appreciation-gift-etched.html" target="_blank">same method as my Etched Jar</a>. <br /><a name="more"></a><br /><br /><div style="text-align: center;"><img alt="Hi Sugarplum | Monogrammed Craft Jar" height="443" src="http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7348/9920264185_b086e0f214_z.jpg" width="550" /></div><br />But instead of etching cream, I used craft paint to fill in the letters. It took several coats to get an opaque finish. {DIY} Stenciled Tote

Thanks to a typo, this post was almost called {DIY} Stenciled Toe. Which might have made some people in the freaky-fetish category very happy...but no worries, there are no pictures of toes in this post.<br /><br />And while I don't have an affinity for feet, I do have a fetish for tote bags. Mr. Clean Magic Eraser sponges are great for stenciling because they are dense and will give you solid coverage <i>(versus a holey sponge). </i>Not to be confused with a Holy sponge.
