Hey friends, we're back with Step 2 of creating a fabulous foyer. Yesterday was all about the rug, and today we're going to add some life to the space.

Hi Sugarplum | Entrance Hall Makeover: the Plant

Double doors are pretty and impactful, but tricky because they use up wall space. In our case, only the left door is used, so placing a large plant in front of the other door doesn't interfere with traffic. The tall fiddle leaf makes a big statement, and breaths life in the room. Not to mention, a beautiful shade of green!

I moved the tree and hyacinth basket (currently 50% off!) from another room, but realized the planter was too matchy-matchy with the jute rug, and they were blending in to each other.

Rather than shop, I did a little DIY Ombre to break up the set. Using some leftover latex paint, I first dry-brushed 3/4 of the basket, using less coverage the further up I went.

Then I went back and added more solid coverage to the bottom.

After drying outside overnight, I brought it back in to it's new home. Now the textures coordinate, but don't match.

And the basket has a zhush to it...which you know I love.

Pay no mind to the jacked-up paint job on the door. We're looking at the basket and rug here!
Tip...cut the green floral tape off your plants that are reinforced with a stick (like fiddle figs and orchids), and replace with jute string for a more natural effect.

I have plants in every room...I like to think they help filter our air, and love the color and life they breath. Are you a plant person?
