You guys!!! Your response to my 4-year blog anniversary & 1,000th post has completely overwhelmed me!! Your comments have made me laugh, and even tear up a few times. I can't say it enough....I'm so grateful to you and this community for all the love, support and friendship. Now I really wish I had a Swag Bag to gift everyone with....but unfortunately only one of you will be the lucky-duck who walks away with $1200 of amazing loot. Have you entered?!

None of us is one-dimensional....we have so many layers, interests and passions....so I was really thrilled to hear you guys love the variety of topics I bring to the blog. I was especially surprised to know you love the style (& travel) posts as much as I do. Which is a good thing, because this is my favorite time of year for clothes and outfits, so I'll keep them coming.

Today we're talking about outfitting the kids. Specifically, for dressy occasions like weddings. My kids have mixed emotions about dressing up....they like the idea of it, but don't like to be uncomfortable. And I don't like spending a mint for clothes they'll likely outgrow after wearing them twice!

Hi Sugarplum | Dressed Up Family

My step-sister got married last weekend, and we realized days before that both kids had outgrown their 'dressy outfit.' Sometimes I'll hit up the discount stores like TJ Maxx for dressy clothes, but that can be a crap-shoot, and I spend so much time weeding through everything and going to multiple stores.

This time I headed straight to Nordstrom, and was so surprised at all the affordable options! Not to mention, I had them both outfitted....in clothes they loved...in under 30 minutes. #itsamiracle

Babygirl fell in love with this Mini Boden dress, and declared it 'not scratchy' and 'good for twirling.' I loved the $30 price tag, and age-appropriate style.

My son found pants and a shirt just as easily and quickly. Fortunately we didn't need to hem the length, but if we had, Nordstrom does free alterations. I was prepared for a fight when it came to the shoes, but he loved these loafers. And again, I was surprised they were affordably priced at $40!

Getting ready for the wedding was a peaceful event, because they were actually excited to wear their clothes. So I was able to forgo my usual threatening! And no one complained all night about being uncomfortable or wanting to change. And lest you think my kids are always photo-ready and agreeable....here's what most of my pictures looked like.

Yep, Mr. SP is one of the kids. Maybe if they see I posted these they'll be more compliant in the future! #muahahahaha I'm not really one to talk though, since I found this one. What's going on here...am I smelling him?!
