The Centsational Girl needs no introduction, and certainly not from me! Kate has been cranking out stunning projects day-after-day on her beautiful blog for years. I can't tell you how many times I've consulted her tutorials before starting a project. You want to build a drying rack, paint laminate furniture, or beef-up inexpensive bookcases? Kate's done it. And she's made it even easier for us by assembling a Best of DIY page, with over 1,000 projects as inspiration and guides. Let's get to know this blogging wizard a little better!
What is your road trip essential snack?
Snacks, plural! Pretzels, grapes, trail mix with M&Ms, dried apricots, and Vitamin water.
You've been handed two free round-trip tickets...who are you taking and where are you going?
Greece and my man. Does it have to be round trip? Can it be one way?

What was your high school jam?
Paula Abdul's "Opposites Attract" - I did a cheerleading routine with the mascot on the basketball court. I fear the day that video surfaces.
Would you rather have a perfect bum, or a flawless face?
Face.
What shows are you ashamed to admit are on your DVR?
We're that weird family because we don't have cable so I'm always a season or four behind. I'm still stuck in Season 2 of Lost *hangs head in shame*.
What's your ringtone?
I have several, but my two favorites are my sister's Downton Abbey Theme and my brother's "I got a fever, and the prescription is more cowbell"
How old were you when you had your first kiss? Was it meh or toe-curling?
8th grade, totally icky, I had forgotten but now the memories are reeling back, ew.
Do you have any siblings, and if so, where are you in the birth order?
Big brother Tim, me, little bro Nathan and baby sister Amelie. No one on earth makes me laugh harder than those three people.
What physical quirk were you born with?
A widow's peak that I disguise 24/7 with a clever part.
What was your first car, and did you name it?
I was rollin' down the street in light blue Honda Civic baby, 1985.model, sweet! (not)
What would you request for your last supper?
My mom's scalloped potatoes, a glass or two of Chateau St. Jean Cinq Cepages 2005 red blend, and a bowl of triple chocolate ice cream.
Have you ever been hospitalized, and if so, what for?
Just for the baby births, consider me lucky!
How tall are you? Do you wish you were taller, shorter...or are you just right?
I'm all of 5'2 ½ (gotta add the half) when bare-footed, but wear heels when out and about just so I can look at people at eye level.
Do you prefer to DIY or hire it out?
Mostly DIY unless it's intense labor that would break me or is beyond my skillz.
What do you eat for breakfast?
Coffee.
And sometimes a smoothie, or a piece of toast. I'm not a big breakfast gal.
What would you do for a living if you didn't need money?
Design fabric in all styles and colorways, from mod to trad.
Finish this sentence: Every room needs....
a great light fixture, a touch of black or dark wood, and something living (pet, person, or plant).
design by Kerrisdale design
How frequently do you wash your hair? Do you have any hair secrets or tricks?
Three times a week (or after I run) and I swear by dry shampoo. I have long hair which I think is ten times easier than short hair to style each day. Two words: pony and tail.
Will you leave the house without makeup?
My daily routine is tinted moisturizer and Burt's Bee's lipgloss in Raisin, it takes too much effort to do more. Unless it's date night or girl's night out.
You just unloaded your Halloween haul...what candy do you go for first?
Is this really a question? Is there even a contender? Twix.
What totally inane talent do you possess?
I am fierce in tetherball, just ask my second and fourth grade kids. I show no mercy. :)
* * * * *
Okay, I've scoured You Tube for Kate's Paula Abdul dance, with no luck. I'd pay 100 Twix bars to see that! And maybe cutting cable is the trick to accomplishing more projects! But I'll have to wait until this final season of Dexter is over. And Breaking Bad. I can't live without my psychopath serial killers!
