I took our builder basic garage door....
And turned it into this! And it only cost $15 and 15 minutes. No joke.
Okay, let me calm down, and start from the beginning. We have a perfectly fine garage door. I never thought 2-seconds about it, except to be grateful I have one and that it works. It never occurred to me that it was plain or an eyesore. I never considered giving it a makeover, and certainly would never spend thousands of dollars to replace it with a fancy one.
Then I saw the transformation of Marissa's garage, and all of a sudden I was giving my plain garage door the stink eye! All you need is a set of 4 decorative carriage house garage door hinges, and a drill. Cute helper is optional.
Just to keep things real, here's the true Before shot, with actual life going on.
Simply decide the placement of your faux hinges, drill pilot holes, then screw on the brackets. They even come with little plastic caps to cover the screws that barely poke out on the other side. TWSS
So simple, even a 1st grader can do it!
Just make sure you don't attach them at the seam, or you'll have a big problem next time you open the door.
Our carriage set came with handles, but we preferred the simpler look without them. Our house numbers are mounted above the doors too, but I blurred them out for the crazies. (Online stalking = encouraged. House stalking = boiling bunnies.)
Our neighborhood has alleys, and the garages are in the back...but we have a corner lot, so the garage door is more visible. This quick makeover gave a big boost to our curb appeal.
I'll save your scrolling finger and give you the Before & After one more time.
What improvements have you made for only $15 lately? What do you think of our new carriage door?! I'll admit, I'm over-reacting a tad about a garage door, but it's rare when a project is easier, cheaper, and turns out even better than you hope.
