Hey there, friends, and happy Monday. I hope your weekend was grand. If you follow me on <a href="http://instagram.com/cassiesugarplum" target="_blank">InstaGram</a>, then you saw the beginnings of a new project around here. And let me tell you, it's a big 'un! I'll share the details with you later this week. #getexcited<br /><br />I've gushed to you guys twice this year about our love of Vieques, a rustic and picturesque island in Puerto Rico. I've shown you <a href="http://hisugarplum.blogspot.com/2014/05/trip-report-island-of-vieques.html" target="_blank">the beaches</a>, and shared the <a href="http://hisugarplum.blogspot.com/2014/09/25-things-i-learned-on-11-day-vacation.html" target="_blank">25 things I learned during a long stay</a>, but a huge part of our draw to this place is <a href="http://goo.gl/pZI8XH" target="_blank">the house we rent</a> there. Exploring the hidden beaches all day is amazing, but waking up in this peaceful haven just makes the island that much more idyllic. I'm hesitant to show too much of the island and this house because I want to keep it our little secret, but it's just too good not to share. Porches and balconies circle the entire home, with views of the nature preserve, and ocean beyond. Large doors and windows open wide allowing tradewinds to blow through. With no TV, the only sounds are Bob Marley on the stereo, and horses clipping by. Aside for the ten years we were in Nashville, I've lived my entire life in Texas. A big, bold, gorgeous, glorious, vast state. I know first-hand the stereotypes that go along with being a Texan, and let me tell you, we don't all ride horses, and our daddies aren't all in the oil business. I do, however, know several people who own cattle. And longhorns. But I digress.<br /><br />As I flipped through the latest issue of Architectural Digest, I was stunned by the images of George and Laura Bush's weekend home in Crawford, Texas. I knew they had a ranch in Central Texas, and I guess I was guilty of assuming it was rugged, and full of leather, deer heads and barbed wire....basically, stereotypical Texas decor. But Texas is as modern as she is rugged, and as sophisticated as she is country. California Dreamin'

Hey there, friends! How was your weekend? I hope it felt long, and was full of laughs and good food. Mr. SP and I ended up taking a last-minute trip to California on Saturday, and are actually flying home today. I've alluded to some personal crappola brewing in my life lately, and the time finally came that I had to deal with it. I'm not trying to be coy, it's just a little raw to talk about yet. Let's just say it involves forgiveness, and making peace. Life is a toughie sometimes, right? But God didn't promise us it would be easy, just that it would be good. I've been leaning on that one lately.<br /><br />We were able to squeeze in some fun time while in LA, too...like a walk on the beach, hiking through the hills, and a quiet dinner....basically soaking up some of the laid-back California living.
