I've gushed to you guys twice this year about our love of Vieques, a rustic and picturesque island in Puerto Rico. I've shown you the beaches, and shared the 25 things I learned during a long stay, but a huge part of our draw to this place is the house we rent there. Exploring the hidden beaches all day is amazing, but waking up in this peaceful haven just makes the island that much more idyllic. I'm hesitant to show too much of the island and this house because I want to keep it our little secret, but it's just too good not to share. Prepare for picture overload.
The owners spent two years building this 3-story, 3,000-square foot home set in a hillside neighborhood. Porches and balconies circle the entire home, with views of the nature preserve, and ocean beyond. Large doors and windows open wide allowing tradewinds to blow through. With no TV, the only sounds are Bob Marley on the stereo, and horses clipping by. And now I'm choked-up.
Every wall is painted bright white, allowing the beautiful woods, colorful floor tiles, and ethnic textiles to take center stage.
Never have I seen a home where so much thought and care was put in to every design choice and detail.
The house blends seamlessly with the island setting, and the yard and grounds feel like an extension of it, with quiet nooks everywhere.
My favorites are the colorful tiles and textiles...and of course the views. What do you love most? More details and rental information can be found here. And if you have any questions about the decor of the house, leave them in the comments and I can ask the owners...they are the nicest (luckiest) people!!
